Embossed Summer Daisies! (tttc003)

Today is Tic Tac Toe Challenge Day and we’ve got a great challenge board for you! This time I chose the first row across (at the top) but I added in a few other items from the board just for fun 🙂

For this card I tried something different with the embossing paste. We have the Decorative Masks to use with the paste, but I wanted some other patterns. I decided to use a punched piece of card stock, one that had a daisy punched out of it. And, it worked!

First I lightly watercolored a piece of watercolor paper with an Aqua Painter and some Daffodil Delight ink to give a little background color. When that was dry, I laid the punched card stock square over the watercolored piece and pressed some of the Embossing Paste into the punched area with the palette knife. I did that a few more times. Then I went back with the Aqua Painter and, without adding any water, just added a bit more ink and lightly painted the daisies. The paste dries a little rough, but that’s what it’s meant to do…add texture 🙂

These are my favorite summer colors: Daffodil Delight and Night of Navy. They just look so fresh! And this Night of Navy Gingham Ribbon is one of my new favorites – I was so happy to be able to use it on this card. This ribbon is super-easy to work with and ties great bows! A little vellum butterfly just adds to the summer theme.

So is your mind whirling about what shapes you could use with the embossing powder? Leave me a comment and let me know your ideas, I’d love to hear! And if you haven’t tried it, you absolutely must! It’s easier than you would think!

Spring Garden Thank You Tags!

The beautiful colors on these tags just make me think of a spring garden! They tags are bright and fresh and a little bit shabby chic. And they are full of new products! I made these tags for my customers this month. I love to tie a tag on their bags or slip a tag in the mail to those who order from my online store, Can you guess the new products used on these tags?

Alright, let’s look at a tag up close, from the bottom layer up:

The first/base layer is a 5″ x 2″ piece of Pool Party card stock punched at the top with the Scallop Tag Topper Punch (couldn’t live without this punch!). The background stamp here is from a set called Background Bits and it’s a Host Set (to qualify to get this set you need to order $150 or more).

Next is a circle of Peekaboo Peach card stock punched with the new Starburst Punch and embossed with embossing paste using a Pattern Party Decorative Mask. As soon as I spread the embossing paste, and while the stencil/mask was still down, I used a sponge dauber and a bit of Berry Burst ink, lightly sponging the embossing paste. Then I removed the mask and voila ~ gorgeous!

A part of a Tea Lace Doily is gathered up and stapled to a strip of the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper. A single leaf of Lemon Lime Twist card stock and die cut with the Eclectic Layers Thilits is layered on top of a strip of the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper. Then to top if all off, a piece of Pool Party card stock was punched with the 1-1/2″ Circle Punch and the words “Thank You” were assembled with the Labeler Alphabet!

A bit of Peekaboo Peach Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon was used to tie a sweet little bow. The bow was adhered onto the tag with a Mini Glue Dot. White Baker’s Twine was looped through the hole at the top of the tag for tying.

The Labeler Alphabet Photopolymer Stamp Set
Item No. 141936

The Labeler Alphabet is a fabulous stamp set. It’s versatile, you can use it on any card and combine the letters to form the sentiment you want! For my tags I used Night of Navy ink to coordinate with the colors in the Naturally Eclectic dsp!
Place an order in my online store during the month of June and I will send you separately one of these Spring Garden Tags! And, for every order of $50 or more, if you use the monthly Host Code, you will receive from me a FREE gift of a package of new Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals!

Why I Love Making Cards (and a few daisies)!

I love making cards. I love the pretty colors and papers and ribbons. When I sit down to create a card I forget about everything else and get lost in making something pretty. For me it’s a way to relax and forget about other things for awhile, and just play with paper and stamps 🙂

Another reason I like making cards is that it’s a way to bless other people, to spread a smile to my friends and family. I think that could be why I really like this new Delightful Daisy Suite…daisies always bring a smile! And this suite has a great Daisy Punch – you can pop out a daisy in a flash! I know we are all going to find lots of things to do with these punched daisies. For today, I put mine on a thank you card! Here are the details:

I’ve used some other items from the suite, like the designer series paper and the stamp set. This paper coordinates beautifully with Tranquil Tide, one of the new 2017-2019 In Colors!

Pretty Pointer:  The 1/2″ Circle Punch punches a perfectly-sized circle for the center of the daisy! I took a picture to show you. Look how it fits in there so well!

Another thing I really enjoy is having card classes where I teach people how to make pretty cards! I usually have 2 or 3 classes each month in my home, and we have a great time, I have to say 🙂 This past weekend I had some classes and I took a picture of the table all prepared for the stampers before they arrived. We had so much fun I didn’t even take any pictures when they were here!!

Please leave me a comment and tell me what YOU love about stamping and making cards and why YOU stamp ~ I’d really like to know! That’s what we have in common, we LOVE STAMPING!

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I’m so glad to share all this with you!

The Debut of Lemon Lime Twist!

Lemon Lime Twist is a bold, bright new In Color debuting in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalog on June 2.  It’s the most vibrant In Color I’ve ever seen and I love it!  On today’s card it’s paired with Dapper Denim for a fabulous contrast!

And of course I had to use this new color with the Eastern Palace Suite!  I love these Eastern Medallion Dies…it seems like every time I use them I find a different thing to do with them! Today they are stacked one on top of the other with Stampin’ Dimensionals in between. The top circle is from the Stitched Shapes Framelits. The little “stitches” around the circle add a nice touch. And I added a tiny Gold Vinyl Sticker 🙂

The pretty paper behind the medallion is the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer Series Paper and oh boy, is it gorgeous!

Now, don’t tell yet, but this is one of the cards we are going to make at my classes this weekend 🙂

Amazing Eastern Medallions and My Gift to You!

The Eastern Medallion Thinlits are amazing! You can tell I like them because I can’t stop using them! The die that I used today is quickly becoming a favorite. The color palette for today’s card is Daffodil Delight, the beautiful new color, Tranquil Tide, and white. I’m surprised at what a nice combination this is!

The stamp set I’ve used for this card is All Things Thanks. I made this card for a demonstrator friend who seriously helped me with some questions I had. I wanted to make a really nice card to show her how much I appreciated her 🙂

Pretty Pointers:

  • This card has three different layers of card stock: the Whisper White card base, a Tranquil Tide panel on the left, and a Watercolor Paper panel on the top right.
  • A watercolor wash makes a nice background on any card. I just lightly washed over the center of the paper with an Aqua Pen and Daffodil Delight ink.
  • The sentiment from All Things Thanks was stamped on Whisper White and punched out with a 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.
  • I love to add bits of doilies and lace 🙂 The bit of wrapped Very Vanilla Lace Trim is stapled right onto the circle.

Sneak Peek From My Guest Stamper!

Today I have a treat for you…a guest stamper and a fabulous card! My friend Linda Foster designs and makes amazing cards and I asked her if I could show you this one. She kindly said yes!

Linda used a stamp set from the new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog: it’s called Daisy Delight. And this card IS a delight! And even better, there’s a coordinating punch!

Here are some tips from Linda:

  • Linda has stamped and punched three daisies and stacked them on top of each other. This gives the full look to the daisy.
  • She stamped the daisies using white Craft Stampin’ Ink on Melon Mambo card stock. The craft ink can take a little time to try, so Linda said she hits it for a minute with a heat gun to dry it more quickly.
  • A square cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies really sets off the daisy.
  • The “bling” on this card comes from the new silver Faceted Gem in the center of the daisy

All of these fun new products are part of the Delightful Daisy Suite and will be available to customers on June 2nd, so start making your wish list now! In the meantime, please take a look at both the Retiring Products and the Clearance Rack. There are lots of great deals over there! Click on the graphics below to see what’s available!

Spring Daisy Delight Sneak Peek!!

Daisies are sweet flowers aren’t they?  Common and simple.  Most people like daisies, and it just seems right that we would have a new set of daisy stamps.  That’s the sneak peek I want to show you today 🙂

The first thing I wanted to stamp when I opened the set was a single daisy on a tall stem.  But as soon as I did that, I had to stamp more!!

Did you know that daisies are found everywhere on earth except Antarctica? No wonder they are loved by so many!  And they were named in the Old English “day’s eyes” because the flowers open at dawn!  (I did a little googling!)

Now there’s another sneak peek on this card and it’s the scallop die that I used to cut the paper at the top. This scallop die is in a new die set called Seasonal Layers Thinlits.  The set has so many fun dies, but this one caught my eye.  I can tell you I’ll be using it a-lot!!

I’m so excited for June 2nd when the new catalog goes live!  I can’t wait for all of you to play with these fun goodies!!  Please know that I’ll be giving you many more sneak peeks between now and then so that you can start your wish list!

And speaking of flowers, I just have to show you the roses that are blooming in my garden!  We’ve had so much rain here in Southern California this year that everything is just exploding!  I wish I had some daisies too (maybe I should plant some!), but for now my roses are blooming like crazy!  I just brought a pretty bouquet into the house the other day!

You know that with a new catalog coming, lots of items from the current catalog are retiring, and some are up to 50% off!  Click HERE to see the good deals!

Peekaboo Peach Thanks!

Recently we’ve been talking about the retiring In Colors (2015-2017), but the continuing 2016-2018 In Colors will still be with us for another year.  And I’m so happy ~ they are beautiful colors!  The color featured on today’s card is Peekaboo Peach!

The “peach” tree is stamped with the Sheltering Tree stamps.  The green part of the tree was stamped with Pear Pizzaz ink.  I think it goes so well with Peekaboo Peach!  These two colors make a beautiful peach tree!

The Peekaboo Peach flowers and vines are are on one of the sheets of the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper.  I have to say that has been my favorite DSP of the annual catalog.  I think I’ve gone through four or five packages!

I needed over 20 spring thank you notes, so after I made them all I took a photo of them lined up on my table!  Fun!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Gift from the Garden!

This past weekend I was a part of a women’s retreat in the mountains.  It was wonderful!  And when I came home I had a few thank you notes to write!  No problem, that’s what I do 🙂

The theme of our retreat was about growing the roots of our lives in good soil.  The Gifts from the Garden stamp set was perfect!  The heart flower in the pot is all one stamp. In order to get the different colors on one stamp, I used our Stampin’ Write Markers and colored the portions of the stamp in the colors I wanted.

Do you see the cute little “burst” on the waterpot?  I found a darling little stamp in the Jar of Love stamp set and when I stamped it there I just loved it!!  The sentiment is also from the Jar of Love set.

Well, I have to tell you I’m getting really excited about this weekend!  There’s a regional Stampin’ Up! conference here in San Diego!  Yippee!

Follow me on Instagram @prettypapercards to see lots of fun photos of the weekend!
