More Christmas Blessings! (GDP065)

GDP065 standing

Ok, so I have a problem…I can’t stop using all of our fabulous Christmas stamps…and I can’t help but use our brand new stamps from the Occasions Catalog (available January 4th)!  To solve my problem I combined them!

GDP065 banner

The colors used on today’s card are from this week’s Global Design Project Color Challenge.  They are SO pretty for this season!

GDP065 finger up R

The pretty watercolored flowers and the little leaves are stamps from the new So In Love set.  And the sentiment is from the Christmas Pines set.  This is definitely my favorite Christmas sentiment.

GDP065 down R

The flowers are watercolored on watercolor paper.  To get the shading, I watercolored the flowers once and then when they dried I went back in a second time to darken portions of each flower.

As I’ve been sitting here posting, my sweet little Elie has been sitting on my lap looking up at me.  I want you to see what I’m seeing…

Elie looking up at me

I can hardly work!!  Isn’t she too cute!  I think she wants me to stop and pet her 🙂

Christmas Pineapple!

Pineapple flat

Welcome for the holidays!  The pineapple is the symbol of “welcome,” and it seems very appropriate at this time of year as we get together with family and friends!

Pineapple L cu

For today’s card, the fabulous Pineapple stamp was stamped in Real Red ink on the bottom, and Garden Green ink on the top.  I did a lot of “huffing” on the stamp before I pressed it down.  Huffing, or breathing on the stamp with your mouth open to moisten it, really helps to get a good, deep color.

Pineapple R cu

Tombow ink was lightly splattered all over the card (use an Aqua Pen and add some glue to the tip, then splatter).  While that was wet, I poured Gold Mica Flakes over the splatter.

Pineapple standing

A pretty bow tied with Gold Baker’s Twine finishes off the card.  What do you think about a Christmas pineapple card?  It might be a nice little gift to guests who visit your home over the next few weeks….

Copper Christmas!

Copper star standing

The star is a spectacular symbol of Christmas, and so traditional and classic.  The Starlight Thinlits Dies have to be the most beautiful star dies ever, and this particular die is my favorite of the set!

Copper star angled L

I tried to keep this card neutral, letting the copper stand out.  To give some texture to the card, I did a light neutral watercolor wash on Watercolor Paper.  Then I copper embossed some little bitty stars over that, and finished off with a splatter of Black Archival Ink.

Copper star flat

A thin strip of musical note dsp was glued onto the bottom of the watercolored panel and then the beautiful Copper Foil star was set on with Dimensionals.  This was all layered on top of a piece of Copper Foil and a Very Vanilla card base.

Copper star angle R

This card is going to someone special for Christmas!  What about you?  Have you made a special card for a special person in your life this season?  I’d love to know, leave me a comment and tell me about it!  I love your comments!

Wonder of Christmas!

Angel envie

The Christmas season has officially begun!!  Joy to the World!!!  I just love this darling angel and she perfectly expresses my joy this season!

Angel down R2

The angel and the stars (another stamp in the set) are heat embossed in white and then the whole panel is sponged with Sweet Sugarplum ink.  Doesn’t it just seem appropriate that we use Sweet Sugarplum at this time of the year?

Angel flat

The angel panel is mounted on a background piece of Sweet Sugarplum card stock and then everything is set on a Whisper White card base.

Angel down L cu

So let’s enjoy this wonderful time of year!  Even though we have lots to do, let’s try to be thankful and give joy to others during this season.  That’s my goal and I hope you’ll join me!

Pretty Pines!

Pink berries envie

I’m still playing around to see what I will use for my personal Christmas card.  Today I used the Christmas Pines stamp set and did a bit of watercoloring…I like it!

Pink berries down R good

The pine boughs were stamped on watercolor paper in Garden Green and Old Olive inks.  The tiny berries were then stamped in Cherry Cobbler.  I took my Aqua Pen and just started brushing over the stamped images with a bit of water until it was blended!

Pink berries down L

Pretty Pointer:  Whenever you want something to stand out, layer it with a contrasting or brighter color.  In this case I wanted my watercolored panel to stand out, so I put a narrow layer of Cherry Cobbler card stock behind it.

Pink berries cu

I used the softly falling embossing folder on the background panel of Blushing Bride card stock.  It really carries out the little berry theme 🙂

Thanks for stopping by today!  I’m getting ready to have my monthly card classes this weekend and our focus is Holiday Tags, so be watching for some pretty tags on the blog!!

Beautiful Star!

Star envie

Oh my goodness, the Star of Light bundle is SO pretty.  I can’t stop using it!  Today the detailed star is cut from Silver Foil and it just shimmers!

Star angled R

The two colors used here are Mint Macaron and Emerald Envy.  Right now this is my favorite Christmas color combination.

Star flat

A bit of Emerald Envy Metallic Thread is tucked behind the star.

Case the Designer (GDP060)

GDP Star

Today I’m playing along with the Global Design Project challenge and we are casing the designer.  The designer this week happens to be my friend, Brian King!  Here’s his card that we are supposed to case (copy and share everything!):Brians Case card

I knew right away that I wanted to enter this contest because PINK is my favorite color!!  And, Brian’s card is so cute, who can resist trying to copy it?

GDP Star flat L

Blushing Bride is a nice pink, and it has some coordinating glimmer paper that looks so great with it. That’s one thing about Stampin’ Up! — all of the papers and inks and ribbons and dsp’s coordinate color-wise, so you are assured of a beautiful project!

GDP Star cu R

The glimmer paper is cut with one of the dies from the coordinating Starlight Thinlit Dies.  They are so beautiful and intricate.  I think they are one of the prettiest die sets ever!

GDP Star standing

Brian’s signature style is layered panels, so I made sure to add some Silver Foil behind the Whisper White and Blushing Bride panels 🙂

Thanks for stopping by today!  Please pop on over to Global Design Project and see how other stampers have cased Brian’s card!

Christmas Blessings for the Pals!

Last PPA standing

Today’s card is for the Pal’s Sketch Challenge, and I have to say it is a bit of a challenge!  Ginger T. has created the sketch this week:

One of my favorite papers this year is called This Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper.  It’s in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  I really love the pine cone floral pattern used on this card!  Isn’t it pretty?

Last PPA R

These pretty flowers are from the Penned & Painted stamp set.  They are heat embossed in gold and then colored in with Blender Pens.

Last PPA cu

Two coats of clear Wink of Stella have been painted on the flowers as a top coat.  In the right light it is SO sparkly!!

Last PPA standing angled

This sketch is really fun.  I hope you’ll pop over to Pals Paper Arts and join us.  And, a bit of sad news…this is the last Pals Paper Arts Challenge.  So please join the fun this week and make your card ~ see you over there!
