A Very Special Fold!

Han banded angled

Today’s card is a special Hanukkah card.  I made this for some friends and wanted my card to be a “wow”!

Han closed flat

This card is a diamond fold card.  It’s a fun fold that opens up with a diamond shape.  After you remove the belly band, this is what you see.

Han part open flat

You open it by pulling the two sides.  It pulls back and this fun diamond pops to the top!

Han part open angled

This photo shows the progression when opening the card.  I’ve used the beautiful Floral Boutique dsp.  It’s so perfect for this card!

Han fully open flat

Here’s the card fully open.  It is a really fun fold.  I followed several tutorials on You Tube…just search for the “diamond fold” and you’ll find the directions.  Fabulous, right?

Han envie

Once I made the card and the belly band, I made a vellum envelope using our Envelope Punch Board.  Rather than sealing the envelope, I tied it up with Silver 1/8″ Ribbon.  I could only do this because I hand carried the card.  If you need to mail it, you would make the envelope out of card stock.

Han closed angled

The stamp used is the (retired) Jewish Celebrations.  I’ve kept this stamp set because it’s so pretty.  I’m sure you have some sets like that!

Thanks for stopping by!  I love your comments ~ please let me know what you think!

More Christmas Blessings! (GDP065)

GDP065 standing

Ok, so I have a problem…I can’t stop using all of our fabulous Christmas stamps…and I can’t help but use our brand new stamps from the Occasions Catalog (available January 4th)!  To solve my problem I combined them!

GDP065 banner

The colors used on today’s card are from this week’s Global Design Project Color Challenge.  They are SO pretty for this season!

GDP065 finger up R

The pretty watercolored flowers and the little leaves are stamps from the new So In Love set.  And the sentiment is from the Christmas Pines set.  This is definitely my favorite Christmas sentiment.

GDP065 down R

The flowers are watercolored on watercolor paper.  To get the shading, I watercolored the flowers once and then when they dried I went back in a second time to darken portions of each flower.

As I’ve been sitting here posting, my sweet little Elie has been sitting on my lap looking up at me.  I want you to see what I’m seeing…

Elie looking up at me

I can hardly work!!  Isn’t she too cute!  I think she wants me to stop and pet her 🙂

Thank you for stopping by today!

Christmas Pineapple!

Pineapple flat

Welcome for the holidays!  The pineapple is the symbol of “welcome,” and it seems very appropriate at this time of year as we get together with family and friends!

Pineapple L cu

For today’s card, the fabulous Pineapple stamp was stamped in Real Red ink on the bottom, and Garden Green ink on the top.  I did a lot of “huffing” on the stamp before I pressed it down.  Huffing, or breathing on the stamp with your mouth open to moisten it, really helps to get a good, deep color.

Pineapple R cu

Tombow ink was lightly splattered all over the card (use an Aqua Pen and add some glue to the tip, then splatter).  While that was wet, I poured Gold Mica Flakes over the splatter.

Pineapple standing

A pretty bow tied with Gold Baker’s Twine finishes off the card.  What do you think about a Christmas pineapple card?  It might be a nice little gift to guests who visit your home over the next few weeks….

Beautiful Luminaries!

Robin Luminaries Christmas

My friend and downline, Robin Daus, has created some beautiful luminaries and I just have to show them to you!  Aren’t they gorgeous?

Robin Luminaries Christmas angled 1

For this luminary she’s used the Merry Medley stamp and embossed it using copper embossing powder on vellum paper.  Cool, right?  I got to see this in person and let me tell you, it’s amazing!!

Robin Luminaries Chanukah

This Chanukah luminary is embossed in silver embossing powder, also on vellum paper.  She’s used the now retired Jewish Celebrations stamp set.

Robin Luminaries Chanukah cu menorah

The vellum is trimmed with our Silver Foil.  It’s genius the way she’s done this as it really grounds the luminary and makes it feel solid.

Robin Luminaries Chanukah angled

Truthfully, the luminaries are very light.  They are simply rolled to about a 3-1/2″ diameter and the edges affixed together.  Just set the rolled luminary over a battery-operated tea light and there you have it!  Darling!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Robin doesn’t have a blog, but she will see any comments you leave for her 🙂  Also, if you hae any questions for her, leave it in a comment and she will answer you!!

Copper Christmas!

Copper star standing

The star is a spectacular symbol of Christmas, and so traditional and classic.  The Starlight Thinlits Dies have to be the most beautiful star dies ever, and this particular die is my favorite of the set!

Copper star angled L

I tried to keep this card neutral, letting the copper stand out.  To give some texture to the card, I did a light neutral watercolor wash on Watercolor Paper.  Then I copper embossed some little bitty stars over that, and finished off with a splatter of Black Archival Ink.

Copper star flat

A thin strip of musical note dsp was glued onto the bottom of the watercolored panel and then the beautiful Copper Foil star was set on with Dimensionals.  This was all layered on top of a piece of Copper Foil and a Very Vanilla card base.

Copper star angle R

This card is going to someone special for Christmas!  What about you?  Have you made a special card for a special person in your life this season?  I’d love to know, leave me a comment and tell me about it!  I love your comments!

Wonder of Christmas!

Angel envie

The Christmas season has officially begun!!  Joy to the World!!!  I just love this darling angel and she perfectly expresses my joy this season!

Angel down R2

The angel and the stars (another stamp in the set) are heat embossed in white and then the whole panel is sponged with Sweet Sugarplum ink.  Doesn’t it just seem appropriate that we use Sweet Sugarplum at this time of the year?

Angel flat

The angel panel is mounted on a background piece of Sweet Sugarplum card stock and then everything is set on a Whisper White card base.

Angel down L cu

So let’s enjoy this wonderful time of year!  Even though we have lots to do, let’s try to be thankful and give joy to others during this season.  That’s my goal and I hope you’ll join me!

Holiday Craft: Rolled Paper Tree!

Rolled Tree flat

Need a quick Christmas craft?  This is a fun one!  I’m casing this project from several that I saw at World Card Making Day in Atlanta.  It’s an easy little project!

Rolled Tree angled R

For mine, I made the tree on a 5″ x 7″ piece of Kraft Paper.  I wanted to display the finished tree on this blackboard clipboard, but this standard size will fit in an open frame also.

Rolled Tree angled L

You simply roll 2″ wide pieces of designer series paper (this is Candy Cane Lane dsp) around a pencil.  You will want to pre-cut your pieces in varying lengths (I started at 4″ long and progressed down from there).  Roll on a pencil and affix with Tear & Tape Adhesive.  After you have all the little rolls made, arrange them on the Kraft Paper.  I also used Tear & Tape Adhesive to stick them down, but think a hot glue gun would work.  I used two short rolls of Chocolate Chip card stock for the tree trunk.

Rolled Tree standing

A sweet Real Red bow made with the Bow Builder Punch finishes off the tree.  I love the way it turned out!  In a few weeks I’m going to be part of a make and take event and this is one of the projects I’m contributing!

Thanks for stopping by today!  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving week!
