Blue Flamingo!

Hi there! Now you may be thinking…what? a blue flamingo? But I have some friends who are expecting their first baby and they found out it’s a boy, and this just seemed perfect for them! And I am tickled pink for them 🙂

This flamingo has really surprised me, I didn’t realize I would like it so much! For today’s card I heat embossed the flamingo with white embossing powder. Then I watercolored it with an Aqua Pen and two colors of ink, Soft Sky and Island Indigo. I added a little watercolored bit of Daffodil Delight ink for the beak. I mean, a beak has to be a different color, right?

The flamingo was fussy cut with my paper snips and then glued onto a 2″ x 4″ Whisper White card stock panel. The legs of the flamingo had already been stamped on the panel (I have to say it looked a bit funny without the body!).

This stamp set is really fun and, it’s photopolymer which means that you can see through the stamps and they are easier to line up!

Here’s a photo of the finished card on my crafting desk. It’s always messy when I finish a card 🙂 Now, I’m the type of person that when I finish a card I just walk away and come back later to clean up. I know that might be shocking to some of you. But I think I just want to enjoy my creation for a while and not think of cleaning up. What about you? Do you clean up right away? Maybe you clean as you go? I’d love to know! Please leave me a comment HERE ~ don’t be too hard on me though!!

It’s almost July!  And that means there’s going to be a new Prettypapercards by Mail! It’s going to be fun and I can’t wait to show it to you!

Thanks for stopping by today!

Welcome to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge!

Today is the FIRST Tic Tac Toe Challenge and I’m so excited you are here!!  This is our debut challenge and it is a fun one.  The tic tac toe board we are playing with is below. Each square is an element you can use when creating your card. Use any three elements/supplies on the board as long as the three elements you choose form a row, column or diagonal on the challenge board.

For my card today I used quite a few elements from the board. I’ll tell you about them below 🙂

The first element is heat embossing. I embossed the flamingo from the new Fabulous Flamingo stamp set using white embossing powder. I also embossed the sentiment in gold (another element). I have to say I love this sentiment and I am “tickled pink” about this whole stamp set!

The next element is stripes. I used a cute little stripe stamp from the new Tabs for Everything stamp set. And the stripes are set on a white (element) circle (element) and tied up with a bit of white baker’s twine (element). See how fun this challenge is? I just couldn’t help myself, I had to use as many of the elements as I could! When I look at the challenge board, my card makes the diagonals in both directions, the center vertical row and the top and bottom horizontal rows. You can tell I had fun 🙂

Why don’t you play with us? Just click the graphic above to go to the challenge website (tictactoechallenge.com) to enter your card! You can also see what the other designers have created ~ I can tell you their cards are beautiful!! Thank you for stopping by today and being a part of our first challenge!

New baby cards are just so much fun to make, aren’t they? For this card I combined three different stamp sets to get what I wanted 🙂

The darling little teddy bear is from the fun Cookie Cutter Christmas stamp set and coordinating punch. What? Christmas? Well, teddy bears aren’t just for Christmas, they are for babies and children. And I love that a Christmas stamp set and punch can be used year round!

Pretty Pointer: Create your own designer series paper (dsp)! Yes, you can easily do this. For my white watercolored panel here, I stamped a pretty heart from the new Ribbon of Courage stamp set over and over arbitrarily. Then I went back and watercolored over it with an Aqua Pen containing only clear water, blending the images for a bit of an obscured background.

The Blushing Bride panel was dry embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I think it gives the card a sweet look.

The sentiment (which I love!!) is from a new stamp set called Fabulous Flamingos. I can’t wait for you to see the whole set!!
