Holiday Catalog Sneak Peek for You!

Oh boy, I just love it when we get a new catalog!! It’s time for the 2017 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog and, as a demonstrator, I’ve been able to order new items early before the catalog goes live on September 1st. Now the Holiday Catalog features not only Christmas and New Year’s items, but fall and Thanksgiving and Halloween. It’s chock full of gorgeous stamps and papers and ribbons!

The first stamp set I wanted to play with is the Count My Blessings set. Today’s card uses my favorite stamp from the set ~ I just LOVE these flowers! Look at the way they are opening to show their little seed-like centers!

The colors here are Very Vanilla, Crushed Curry, Old Olive and Fresh Fig. I think these are going to be my go-to colors this fall. The flowers and leaves were colored in with a Blender Pen, putting a little more ink in some areas to create shading. A bow tied with Linen Thread finishes off the fall theme.

I love hearing from you! Let me know what you think about today’s post or ask me a question by leaving me a COMMENT HERE!

Grateful Wreath!

Grateful angled R

This is a card we made recently at my card classes and I thought you might like to see it.  I really liked this card because it gets me in the mood for fall and Christmas when I hang wreaths on my front door ! 🙂

Grateful envieThe stampers at the class really liked this card.  To make the wreath, I traced (very lightly in pencil) a circle from one of the Layering Circle Thinlits Dies (you could just use a glass).  Then I stamped around the circled with a little leafy stamp from the Love & Affection stamp set.

Grateful flat

I added a some tiny flowers from various stamp sets, and the sentiment from Endless Thanks.  Pretty easy, right?

Grateful angled L downThanks for stopping by today!  Now go make a wreath card and let me know how it comes out!!  And, if you live in San Diego County and would like to come to one of my classes, please email me!

October is Here with Vintage Bling!

Leaves flat L

October is here and I’m excited!  Fall is my favorite season!  Even though I live in Southern California, I still get excited about all the pretty, rich colors in the stores and “slightly” cooler weather. Leaves flat

Kraft paper is a great background for rich colors.  Here I’m using Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze and Old Olive.  I stamped the leaves from the Vintage Leaves set and then used my Blender Pen to blend in the colors.  I also added a bit of Crushed Curry. 🙂  Then I crumpled the leaves in my hands to give them some texture.

Leaves flat R

The frame was cut from Rich Razzleberry card stock using the Layering Squares Framelits Dies, and it was laid over a gold Metallic Foil Doily and a Delicate White Doily.  I had some fun with the Rich Razzleberry Ribbon Trim:  a 1-1/2″ length of ribbon was cut at one end into small strips, leaving the other end alone to tuck under the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by today!  I hope you have a wonderful October!

Vintage Leaves and Bling!

Pumpkin L cu

Vintage Leaves is a must stamp set for fall.  The stamps are intricate, and pick up color beautifully, which is just what you want!

Pumpkin standing
For today’s card I also used the pretty pumpkin stamp, along with it’s cute little stem and leaves, from the Jar of Haunts set.  I stamped the pumpkin with Pumpkin Pie ink, heat embossed it with clear embossing powder, and then watercolored it with the same ink.  If you haven’t tried watercoloring, you have go try it!!  It’s super easy with the Aqua Pen: just squeeze a bit of water out of the pen onto the paper, add a bit of ink, and have fun!

Pumpkin F down

The leaves were stamped directly onto the watercolor paper and then just blended with some water from the Aqua Pen.  Simple!

The watercolored panel was mounted with dimensionals onto a piece of Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate (yeah bling!), tied with a bit of Linen Thread, and placed on the Very Vanilla card base.

Now go try some watercoloring!!  🙂

Rich Copper Foil Leaves for Fall!

Leaves flat envie

Copper Foil ~ it’s gorgeous and rich and shiny.  So Fall.  And, perfect for Fall leaves!  Fall doesn’t officially start until Thursday, but I’m so ready.  Here in San Diego County it’s been gently raining ~ this rarely happens!  So I’m really in a Fall mood!

Leaves cu 2

For today’s card, I cut the leaves from the Copper Foil using the Flourish Thinlits, and scattered them around on the card.  The flowers were stamped on the card using Versamark Ink and then heat embossed with Copper Embossing Powder.

Lace and Copper Wreath!

Copper Wreath angled L with ink

Hi there stampers!  I hope you’re having a nice long weekend!  I’m organizing my stamp room and….stamping!  I’ve been playing with some copper:  copper thread, copper embossing powder, copper dots on special paper!

Copper wreath standing

It’s hard to capture in photographs the pretty sparkliness of the copper embossing.  It’s different, not gold, not silver, but richer.  I’ve also used a bit of copper thread.

Copper Wreath angled L 2

Do you see the darling little pinecones hanging from the bow?  They actually look like copper and go perfectly with the wreath.  The background paper is a gorgeous sheet of little copper dots on a heavy vanilla designer series paper.  It’s one of the selections in the Petals & Paisleys Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Copper wreath straight with ink

The leaves were stamped on watercolor paper which was watercolored with both Rich Razzleberry and Delightful Dijon ink and my Aqua Painter.  Then they were cut out with the Paisley Framelits,

Among the Branches!

Autumn Wishes 1

Love, love, love this stamp set called Among the Branches!!  I saw this card, created by one of the Stampin’ Up! Artisans named Inge Groot, and I knew I had to case it.  It’s gorgeous!  We are making it at my October card classes.

Autumn Wishes cu

The stamping on the large Autumn Wishes was made to look like watercolor brush strokes by pulling or dragging the stamp across the pad.

Autumn Wishes open

Can’t even tell you how much I love these tiny leaves!  They are really tiny!  There are three different little stamps and I just stamped them all over the place.  Cute!!

Watercolored Thanks!

Thanks angled cu

Have you ever watercolored?  Stampin’ Up!’s Watercolor Paper makes watercoloring easy.  I really know nothing about it, but with this paper and the Aqua Pen it’s easy and comes out beautifully ~ like these leaves!

Thanks cu

Using the Aqua Pen, I applied some different inks, pressing together on the pen to squeeze out bits of water to blend the colors together.  I purposely  applied more of different colors to different areas of the sheet of Watercolor Paper.  Once the paper dried I cut the leaves out using the Leaflets Framelits.  I scored them with my bone folder to add veins into the leaves.

Watercoloring is fun, I’ve discovered!  Give it a try and let me know how it comes out!
