Pretty Butterfly Thank You

Butterfly.TU

Ooh, I just love these butterflies, don’t you?  Making double butterflies is fun with butterfly punches.  Choose two pretty colors and punch away!

Butterfly.TU.little butterflies

This card is really a snap to make.  The background is embossed with Stampin’ Up!’s Fancy Fan Embossing Folder to give some added texture.  But it would be even easier just to use plain colored card stock.  These little butterflies could be used anywhere:  on gift bags, gift packages, notepads, notebooks, and on and on.

These two punches are some of my favorites.  Here they are:

The Elegant Butterfly Punch (Item 127526)

and the Bitty Butterfly Punch (so adorable!):

What else could you use these little butterflies on?  Leave me a comment and let me know – I need more ideas!!

Thank you for stopping by Pretty Paper Cards today!

HopCard.2

When I think of the earth, I think of its beauty, the flowers, the trees, and the way raindrops sparkle on the leaves of trees.   I’m also thankful to God who created the earth.  That’s what I’ve tried to capture in today’s card.

The tree is from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set.  And the flowers and grass are from one of the stamps in the March Best of Flowers set.  Have you gotten any of the “Best of” sets yet?  Stampin’ Up! is issuing a stamp set each month, in honor of their 25th anniversary.  Each stamps set contains one brand new stamp, and the other stamps are some of the best of all 25 years.

HopCard.1

Pretty Pointer:  To get this look on the flowers, I used the 2012-2014 Stampin’ Write Markers to color the stamp by hand.  I colored the stems in Gumball Green and the flowers in Raspberry Ripple.  Doesn’t it give the feeling of a real field of flowers?

HopCard.cu.bottom

And I couldn’t forget my very favorite doilies!  I think they look a bit like clouds on this card…maybe I just love using doilies!!  An embossed oval with a sentiment from the Apothecary Art stamp set, and a darling linen thread bow finish it off.

Happy St. Patty’s Day! (FMS77)

StPattys.1

Happy St. Patrick’s Day everyone!  It’s a great occasion to make a pretty card.  We like any occasion to make a card, don’t we?

The pattern for this card comes from this week’s sketch challenge over at Freshly Made Sketches.  Here’s the sketch:

FMS77

It’s a fun sketch and it was a good starting point.  The Print Poetry Designer Series Paper Stack has some very pretty green patterns and I was able to use two of them for this card.  Gumball Green card stock goes perfectly with these papers.

StPattys.cu

The darling little stamps from the Ciao, Baby! stamp set are perfect on the green panel.  I just stamped and punched!  Very quick.

DON’T FORGET – ONLY ONE MORE WEEK LEFT OF SALE A BRATION!  You can get this Petite Curly Label Punch FREE with a $50 order.  Take this opportunity before it’s gone.

And have a great St. Patty’s Day!  Thanks for stopping by today!

Blessings,

Peggy

Sweet Love Hearts (PPA151)

Love Hearts.best

Ooh, I love these frilly love hearts!  Aren’t they so cute?  The Hearts a Flutter stamp set and framelits make the cutest Valentines!  This Valentine would be perfect to give to a good friend.  The little love stamp is so understated.  It’s from the Tiny Tags stamp set
Pretty Pointer:  Even though Stampin’ Up! makes it so easy to create a great card using coordinated stamps and punches (in this case the Tiny Tags stamp set and coordinating Jewelry Tag Punch), we can get stuck just using those items together.  Break out and find some other uses for those stamps.  In this case you see both the Tiny Tags stamp and punch used together, and the stamp used as the featured sentiment.
This card was made for the current Pals Sketch Challenge below:
PPA151
The large heart used on this card is from the Hearts a Flutter set, and I think it’s so cute.  I wanted to use a whole bunch of the large hearts on this card and this is the most I could fit on there!  The pretty heart embellishment is from the new Artisan Embellishment Kit in the Spring Catalog.  Fun, fun, fun is all I can say about this Kit…ribbons and buttons and bows, oh my!

So have you started making your Valentines?  We’ve got less than a month now until Valentine’s Day!  I’m sending cards to my adult children and a few friends.  I’ve almost got all the cards made.  I was pretty slow getting my Christmas cards made so I’m happy to have another chance with Valentine’s Day–less pressure and fewer cards, right?!
DON’T FORGET!!  TOMORROW IS THE START OF SALE A BRATION, Stampin’ Up’s biggest promotion of the year.  FREE exclusive fun stuff with every purchase of $50.  Here’s the SALE A BRATION Catalog in case you haven’t seen it yet.  Browse through it and find your favorites, then place your $50 order from any other catalog (including the new Spring Catalog!), and you will have the opportunity to choose one SALE A BRATION item for FREE!  What’s better than that?

Thanks So Much and Valentine Special!

SoMuch.best

Thanks SO MUCH!  This is one of the stamps in the new stamp set called “Oh, Hello” debuting this week in the Spring Catalog.  This stamp set is bold and striking and so current.  The chevrons on the left of the card are stamped from another stamp in the set.  And, what do you think of the pretty flower?  I’m not sure what kind of a flower it is.  I was thinking it was a rose, then today I wondered if it was a crocus.  Let me know what you think…  In any event, it’s pretty and very versatile.  I stamped it on the outside of my envelope also.

We made this card at my card class today.  It’s easy to make and has a big “wow” factor.  The embossing is from the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.  And the Calypso Coral ink against the Very Vanilla card stock makes a beautiful contrast.

SoMuch.CU

Pretty Pointer:  When sending a card, it’s so nice to include on the envelope a little preview of what’s waiting inside.  On the envelope for today’s card I stamped the flower on the outside left corner of the envelope.  It even makes me happy to mail this card when I see that little flower on the outside :-)

Pretty Plum Florets

Florets.2

This card was made for a girl who recently lost her grandmother.   It’s difficult to loose a loved one at any time, but particularly at this time of year.   I wanted to make her a sweet card.

The Fabulous Florets stamp set is so beautiful, I knew it would be perfect for this occasion.  The Curly Cute sentiments are feminine and “thinking of you” seemed appropriate

Florets.3

To create these pretty flowers, I stamped the leaves first in Wild Wasabi ink.  There are three flowers in this stamp set, two “open” flowers showing just the outlines, and one filled in flower.  The open flowers were stamped over the leaves.  Then the filled in flower was stamped on a separate sheet of card stock and cut out.  They sometimes call this “fussy cut,” meaning that you carefully trim the item with paper snips.  This sweet little flower was then mounted among the other flowers in the bouquet using a dimensional to make it stand out.

Florets.1

A bouquet of flowers is a nice “gift” for someone who is going through a difficult time.  I’m so glad I had this pretty stamp set to use on my card.  If you need a versatile stamp set that can be used for many different situations, this would be one of the best sets to get.  It’s one of my favorites.

Birthday Affection Card

Birthday Affection.2

Today’s card is clean and simple but with a little frill.  It was made for my special friend, Mary Fish, for her birthday.

The Affection Collection stamp set is my favorite right now.  The stamps are different with a fun edge.  I’m crazy about the banner stamp in the upper left corner  It’s so versatile!  I think anyone would feel special when they receive this card.  It says, “You are number one!”

The square in the center of the card is where all the action is.  The “cloud burst” is another one of the great stamps in the Affection Collection.  This was double stamped with the Itty Bitty birthday stamp.

Candy Cane Christmas Tag

Well, this is the final day of a Week of Christmas Tags.  And for the last day, I had to do something special–so, today’s tag is sparkly, striped like a candy cane, and has a fun frame around it!  After all the other tags this week, we come down to a simple, elegant tag.  Except for the Champagne Glimmer Paper, you could almost say it’s clean and simple :-)

And this tag is the easiest to make of all of them!  One piece of Glimmer Paper cut to 2-1/4 x 3-1/4, round the edges with the Corner Punch, add three strips of your choice of Designer Series Paper, varying the width for interest, and you’re done!  Punch a hole in the top of the tag with a standard hole punch and tie a little Baker’s Twine on and there you go.

So, which tags are your favorites?  At our card class on Saturday I plan on making three of the five tags I’ve shown you this week.  If you haven’t commented yet, please let me know which tags you recommend that we make.   I’ll have the class make the tags you choose!  Then I will post photos of our class for you, so that you can see their ~~J O Y~~ when they make their pretty tags!!

It’s going to be fun and I’m anxious to see your final comments.  Thank you SO much for reading my blog and for helping me this week.

I appreciate you!  Happy tag making!

Stampin’ Up! Supplies You’ll Need to Make This Tag:

Paper:  Champagne Glimmer Paper, Cherry Cobbler and Lucky Limeade card stock, Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack
Other Goodies:  3/8″ Corner Round Punch, Scallop Edge Border Punch, Fancy Fan Embossing Folder, Sticky Strip, and Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine

Homespun Christmas Tag

Here we are, Day 4 of our Week of Christmas Tags!  And today’s tag is one I feel really attached to.  It’s just so sweet, I love it!  Almost everything on this tag is from the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.    My favorite thing on this tag is the Merry Christmas flagged banner.  It’s made using one of the stamps from the Affection Collection stamp set.  I stamped it in Cherry Cobbler ink and then also inked the edges of the banner.  Then Merry Christmas was stamped across the banner in Island Indigo Ink.  You can use a pencil or a bone folder to give a little curl to the banner like I did.

The base of the tag is made using one of the papers from the Festival of Prints Designer Series Paper Stack on top of a piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  This extra layer strengthens the tag and makes a nice backing.  The Scallop Square Punch is used to punch out a piece of Crumb Cake card stock and a piece of  blue gingham from the Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper.  The squares are then layered at an angle and popped up on a Dimensional.

To add that homespun look, wrap Linen Thread around the tag a few times and tie a bow.  The ribbon at the top of the tag is 7/8″ Cotton Ribbon tied with more of the Linen Thread.   One fun thing about this Cotton Ribbon is that you can write on it.  I’m thinking of writing “To” and “From” on the ribbon!

I’d love to see what you could create with this design.  It’s so versatile.  You could use different papers, inks, colors, stamps…I know you would make beautiful tags!  Send me pictures of tags you make, I’d LOVE to see them!

And, let me know what you think about this tag for my Saturday card class.  Time is running short.  I’ll post one more tag tomorrow night, and then I have to make my decisions on which 3 tags to use.  Friday will be spent preparing all the beautiful Stampin’ Up! supplies for the class on Saturday.

Thanks for stopping by Pretty Paper Cards!
