One of the Best Cards You Can Send!

Birthday cards and congratulations cards are wonderful and we love to send them, but I believe the best card we can send is the card saying we care.  That’s why I love to send cards like this one, to show care and bring a smile to others. And I think it’s the best card we can send!

This sentiment on today’s card is from the Rose Wonder stamp set, and it’s one I use frequently. I’m so happy that it’s carrying over into the new catalog 🙂  It has been stamped on a piece of Whisper White card stock and punched out with a 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.

The pretty flowers are from a retiring set called Penned & Painted. It’s a great set of loose flowers and leaves. It’s a 2-step stamp set but I only used the outline stamps. Then I colored the insides of the flowers with our watercolor pencils and lightly brushed water over them with an aqua pen.  The leaves are colored with our Stampin’ Write Markers.

Thanks for stopping by today! If you like the Penned & Painted set, grab it right away as the retiring items are only while supplies last 🙂

Beautiful You!!

Today’s card uses the Beautiful You stamp set.  This set is really something different.  I love it!

These stamps are very artistic, they make beautiful scenes.  And on top of that, they are amazingly easy to stamp!  They give a clear crisp image.

It doesn’t take any time at all to make a great card!  For this card I stamped the girl with the umbrella, then I stamped some designer series paper with the same stamp.  I cut out the umbrella from the dsp and pieced it onto the umbrella on the girl. Super easy — and a big WOW!

I added a quick “sky” above the umbrella using the Sale-a-Bration set called Delicate Details (FREE with a $50 order!).  Then I stamped a sentiment onto a piece of Mint Macaron card stock and punched it out with a circle punch.  Quick and done!

Oh, I forgot…I used Watercolor Pencils on her dress!  It’s so much fun to color…so relaxing!  And, making cards is relaxing, don’t you think?  That’s something I really like about card making, it gives me a chance to get away into a world of colors and papers and lace (sometimes), and forget everything else.  What about you?  Why do you like card making?  Let me know, I love your comments!

Succulents are very popular right now, and Stampin’ Up! is right on trend.  We have a beautiful Oh So Succulent stamp set, Succulents Framelits Dies, and a gorgeous coordinating designer series paper called Succulent Garden!

So Succulent envie

The big flower here is a stamp and it’s been stamped with Rich Razzleberry ink.  Then it was filled in with a blender pen and some Sweet Sugarplum ink.  That gives it the pretty shading!

So Succulent R

The sentiment is from the Feather Together stamp set and it is stamped on vellum with Rich Razzleberry ink.  There are some great sentiments in this stamp set and the font is quite modern 🙂

Sneak Peek: Mediterranean Meow!

Kitty standing

Look at this sweet kitty on the wooden chair!  Is he darling or what?  This wonderful stamp is from the new set called Mediterranean Moment, premiering in the Occasions Catalog January 4, 2017.  It was created by million dollar demonstrator, Susan Nygaard.  I had the privilege of meeting her in November in Atlanta, and she is an amazing person.

Kitty flat R

There are four stamps in the set, each with a different Mediterranean scene.  They are each beautiful.  They can be stamped in black ink, or watercolored, or colored with a blender pen as I’ve done here!

Kitty flat

For my card today, I used a watercolor paper panel and gave it a watercolor wash in Mint Macaron.  That created a nice background for this sweet scene.

Kitty flat L

The sentiment used on this card is from the Feather Together stamp set.  I really like the font.  It’s modern with a little bit of whimsy 🙂

Kitty cu

One reason I really like this particular stamp is that it’s a scene I would love to see on my patio.  We don’t have cats, but I do love them.  I’m imagining this kitty sitting on a chair on my patio ~ in the sun purring!

Thanks for stopping by today and enjoying this “scene” with me!  Get ready for January 4th when you’ll be able to get this set for yourself!

Garden Thoughts for the Pals!

The colors chosen by Windy Ellard for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge are so pretty together!  Island Indigo has been a favorite of mine since it came out.

Sparkly Glitter Bird!

Glitter Bird angled cu

Hi there!  So I’m enamored with the new Best Birds stamp set.  I can’t stop using it!  Today I used another one of the bird stamps, and I tried out the branch and the sweet little dogwood flowers.  They were all cut with the coordinating dies.

Glitter Bird 1The bird was stamped on watercolor paper and watercolored using an Aqua Pen.  I used a Stampin’ Write Marker in Cajun Craze to color the beak.

Glitter Bird cu bird

I tried a new technique on this card using glue and glitter.  I mixed a bit of Tombow Glue and water on top of a clear block using an Aqua Pen.  Then I flicked the mixture off the Aqua Pen by hitting it against my finger.  I think I did too much flicking…because when I covered the card with glitter and shook it off, there was SO much glitter!!  I meant for it to just be a nice sprinkling 🙂  Oops!!

Glitter Bird cu dogwoodI love the little blossoms.  I’m not sure what type of blossoms they were meant to be, but I’m thinking they are cherry blossoms!  What do you think?

Thinking of You!

Thinking Envie

Thinking of You is such a great sentiment for a card.  There are so many occasions for this sentiment.  I like to use cards like these for sympathy cards and write a personalized note inside.

Thinking pot

The sentiment here is from the Thoughts & Prayers stamp set.  This is a go-to set for me for people who are sick or who’ve lost a loved one.  The flowers and leaves are from the Choose Happiness.  I cut out the flowers and wrinkled them up to give them some dimension.

Thinking 1

I’m thinking of you today, too, and hoping you are having a great day.  Get in some stamping if you can!!

Favorites for the Blog Hop!

Blog Hop BadgeWelcome to the May Pals Blog Hop. This is the first hop on our new day – the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Before we celebrate the release of the new Stampin’ Up! catalog next month, we want to take time to say goodbye to our favorite retiring products. This month we are showcasing projects that feature stamps or accessories that are retiring along with the 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog on June 4th.

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from Angie Blake at Angie’s Musings, stop number 33 on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog.

May Hop Best

Some of my REALLY favorite things are retiring, and I’m so happy to be able to use them one last time.  The En Francais background stamp has been a favorite for quite a while.  It’s so pretty behind flowers, and I just love flowers!!  Speaking of flowers, the ones on this card are from a gorgeous set called Fabulous Florets which is also retiring.  The leaves come in the same set.  I’ve fussy cut them for this card to make them really stand out.

May Hop cu

The sentiment is from the Sweet Essentials set which I’ve used so many times.  I love the font 🙂  Now, one of my REAL favorites has been the Victoria Lace Trim.  That’s what I’ve used here along with the Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon.  Both of these are retiring and I just saw that the Victoria Lace Trim is already sold out!!!  But, there is good news.  There is a beautiful NEW Venetian Crochet Trim in the new catalog and it will be available June 2nd!!  You know that’s first on my list (hee)!

May Hop 2

And of course what would a retired favorites card be without some of our beautiful retiring 2012-2014 In Colors?  My favorites have been Primrose Petals and Gumball Green.  I’m really a pink girl at heart, so I’ve loved Primrose Petals since it first came out.  And Gumball Green is such an elegant green…

So, those are some of my retiring favorites!  But we have amazing new products to play with beginning June 2nd, and I’ve been showing sneak peeks of some of those fun items, so definitely come back for more!

Thank you for coming along on the blog hop!  The next stop is my friend Patti MacLeith at Papercrafts by Patti, stop number 2 on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and  I hope to see you next month.

Butterflies for the Pals!

PPA203 1The colors for this week’s Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge are surprisingly pretty.  The more I worked with them the more I liked them together.

PPA203 greenThis card has something old an something new.  Can you guess?  Something old is an item on this card which is retiring, and it’s my favorite Victoria Crochet Trim 🙁  In fact, it’s already completely sold out!  Yes, it’s true.

Something new is a new stamp!!  You are getting a sneak peek of  a new set called Flamingo Lingo (cute, right?).  I used one stamp from the new set and it’s the pretty curly oval in the enter of the card.  You’ll be seeing more of this set from me in the future.  But for today I just used the pretty oval stamp.  This is a special stamp set because for every stamp set purchased Stampin’ Up! donates $3 to the Ronald McDonald House Charity.  I love that!  Do you have this set on your wish list yet?  Let me encourage you to put it on there!

Thank you for stopping my today!
