A sparkly forest of trees during the holidays, that’s what this card represents. The Classic Christmas 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper is the perfect background for the scene. The Shaded Spruce background color is dark and rich and draws us into the depths of the forest.
My card is inspired by this week’s Global Design Project Challenge ~ a winter holiday. The icons on the theme board include a Christmas tree, so I included trees on my card, trees punched with the Pine Tree Punch.
The trees were punched from Shimmery White cardstock, a cardstock that works very well with watercoloring. After 5 trees were punched, each tree was watercolored on the back and the front with Shaded Spruce ink using the largest of the Water Painters. After allowing the trees to dry, fold them in half and burnish the folds with a Bone Folder.
A circle was cut from Whisper White cardstock using the Layering Circles Dies. The circle was lightly stamped with a dot stamp from the Forever Fern stamp set using Shaded Spruce inl. Adhere the circle to the card base with Multipurpose Glue. Then adhere the folded trees a shown using Multipurpose Glue. Place a large rhinestone from the Basic Rhinestone Jewels atop each tree.
The word “Joy” was cut from Silver Foil using the Joy Dies. The word was adhered to the designer series paper using tiny dots of Multipurpose Glue. Right now these Joy Dies are ON SALE AT 30% OFF!!
The dies are part of the Giant Year-End Closeout Sale – what a great price!
