Yesterday was our one-day retreat called Create the Day Away! We had SO much fun! It was here in San Diego…we had it in a beautiful hotel ballroom with a crystal chandelier! This is my friend Linda Foster. The two of us put on the retreat!
It was a fun day of crafting! We had demonstrations of techniques, lots of make and takes, games, and PRIZES!! Here are the attendees working hard on their projects…
We had a fun photo area. Here are some crafters having their photo taken!
We also had little gifts for all attendees at their places when they arrived. One of their gifts was a sweet and adorable 3″ x 5″ index card spiral-bound notebook made by Linda. Look at the beautiful cover made of the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper and tied with a gorgeous black and white striped bow!
We had a fun photo station where everyone could have their pictures taken and, of course, Linda and I had to get in on the action!
We are hoping to have another event in the Spring! If you’d like to be on our mailing list and receive notice of future events, please go to the website createthedayaway.com and put your name and email address on our mailing list!
Yesterday I had a party (get together) for my wonderful team of stampers, and we had so much fun!! We had food and presents and made cards and talked and more food and more talking….it was great!
Here they are, the “Sweet Stampers”! Aren’t they darling? And look at all the fun they’re having stamping and creating.
These are the yummy cupcakes. Now I bet you’re wondering what flavor they are 🙂 We had red velvet and pumpkin! (I’ll just say right now that I didn’t make them, I bought them, but they were pretty good!) And I made cute little flags to put on top of each cupcake ~ the flags were a SNAP to make with the Candy Cane Lane Designer Washi Tape and toothpicks!
Each person got a cute bag to hold the cards they made. For the front of the bags I used a banner cut from a piece of paper from the Neutral Designer Series Paper Stack, topped with a piece of Pumpkin Pie card stock embossed with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder. A cute leaf from the Paisley & Posies DSP was die cut with the Leaflets Framelits . I added their names on a little strip of Whisper White card stock punched with the Classic Label Punch, and a bow of Emerald Envy Baker’s Twine (from the Baker’s Twine Trio Pack in the Holiday Catalog).
Each person also got a gingerbread man magnet bookmark. These little “men” were stamped with a stamp from the Cookie Cutter Christmas set and punched out with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. To make the bookmark, fold a piece of Whisper White card stock in half. Stamp one gingerbread man with his head up close to the fold. Put the folded, stamped man into the punch and pull the head of the gingerbread man down in the punch just a bit so that his head doesn’t punch through. This will give you two men attached together at the top/head 🙂 Now stamp the back with another gingerbread man.
Put a piece of magnetic sticky tape on each side of the inside of the little man to form the bookmark. If you like you can add some Cherry Cobbler Dazzling Details for his collar and buttons. This is such a cute bookmark. I’m using mine to mark my place in my Stampin’ Up! Catalog!
Hope you enjoyed our party, sure wish you could have been with us!! Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think. And come back tomorrow and I will show you the projects we made!
There are many reasons I love stamping 🙂 But today I want to talk to you about two reasons! I bet you can guess the first reason...yes, it’s FRIENDS!
