Welcome to the Pals December 2017 Blog Hop featuring “All that Sparkles and Shines”. Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
Ooh, sparkle and shine, what a perfect December blog hop!! This is THE time for sparkle and shine, right? So, for my project today I created a card like a gift, all wrapped up with lots of bling!
For the background I used the gold and white plaid sheet from the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is super sparkly! Then I tied it up like a gift with ribbons and bling!
For the “bling” I used Silver Mini Tinsel Trim, Gold Mini Sequin Trim, and Mini Ornaments! Everything is tied up with Real Red Ribbon and “sealed” with a sweet little Boxwood Wreath!
Now this isn’t the type of card you would send in the mail. It’s a card that you would hand deliver, maybe even on top of a large gift! You could even wrap the gift in the same paper!!
After I finished my card it just seemed to call out to be placed on my Christmas tree as an ornament! So I tucked it in the branches, just above a white lace angel.
Thank you so much for hopping with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals today. Please take a minute to mark your calendar for our next hop on January 10, 2018. Now hop along using the Blog Hop Line-up below. Don’t forget to leave me a comment!
I love pictures of red cardinals in the snow in the winter! It’s just something you see during the holidays…on cards and in photos. So I thought I might try to make my own red cardinal in the snow card!
To create the snow background I used the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. It totally looks like snow, don’t you think? And to create more of a snowy effect, I used dies from two different sets. The swirls (snow swirls!) are from the Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits Dies, and the large snowflakes themselves are from the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies.
Now for the adorable little red (umm) cardinal. I know this bird isn’t really a cardinal, but he’s just SO cute!! And I don’t have a cardinal stamp, I have two cute birds from the Oh So Happy Stamp Set. So one of them just had to become a cardinal! I colored him with Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends (and his beak and feet were colored with Daffodil Delight Blends!).
Don’t forget about the discounted and retiring items that are part of the Year-End Sales Event!
The Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies were used to make the snowflakes on today’s card, and they are retiring on December 30th. They have been my favorite dies from the Holiday Catalog! Here are some projects I’ve made using these great dies:
Be sure to scoop these up before they retire! Click on the photo below to go to my online store!
Thanks for stopping by today! Leave me a comment, I’d love to hear what you think of the cardinal in the snow card 🙂

There IS a feeling of Christmas all over right now, and it has to do with the calendar! Christmas is getting close! And all these Christmas cards I’ve been making are going to be sent out, you can be sure. Would YOU like to receive THIS CARD in the mail from me?? Just leave me a comment today and you will be entered into a drawing to receive this card. If your name is drawn, I will email you for your address!
Today’s card is for this week’s Tic Tac Toe Challenge. I’ve chosen the diagonal row from bottom left to upper right: heat embossed, patterned paper, and vellum.
I really like this Feeling of Christmas stamp set. It can be used all year round, wreaths are always beautiful! Here I’ve embossed the wreath with gold embossing powder for a holiday bling!
Pretty Pointer: The pretty red ornaments on this card are White Perfect Accents colored with the Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blend. Isn’t that cool? You can color these White Perfect Accents any color you like!! How versatile is that?
Have you ever stamped on Vellum? It’s easy and adds a nice touch to any card. Here I’ve stamped the branch stamp from this set onto a 3/4″ x 4-1/8″ piece of Vellum. Then I heat embossed the sentiment in white on a Real Red piece of card stock. These elements add interest and make your card fun!!
Important Note—This stamp set is being discontinued on January 2, 2018, and is available now only while supplies last. Don’t miss out on this cute wreath set!
