Floral Affection Sympathy

Sympathy angled flat

I never seem to have enough sympathy cards on hand.  I guess I prefer to make happy cards, so I’m always surprised when I need a sympathy card and I don’t have one.  So, I made one in advance this time 🙂

Sympathy angled L cu

For this card I started out with a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock cut to 5-1/4″ x 3-1/2″ and embossed on the lower left with one of the Floral Affection embossing folders.  I angled the paper a bit in the folder to get the flowers where I wanted them.

The embossed areas were then colored with the fat side of a Rich Razzleberry Stampin’ Write Marker.  I then went back in with the pointed side of the marker to make some areas a little darker.  The Very Vanilla panel was then stamped with various stamps from Timeless Textures and a sentiment from Rose Wonder. Then a 1″ x 5-1/4″ Rich Razzleberry panel was adhered to the Vanilla panel and glued onto the front of a Crumb Cake card base.

Sympathy inside

The inside of the card uses another sentiment from the Rose Wonder set stamped on Very Vanilla and punched out with the Decorative Label Punch.  Behind it is a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock punched with the same punch, cut in half and glued to the first piece.

Thank you for stopping by today!  Happy stamping!!

Stepping Out With Textures ~ Pals May Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for May 2016.  We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are featuring projects that are “stepped up” by using textures or fun techniques. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the lineup on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Hop 1

Today’s card gives you a preview of some of the new items you will find in the 2016-18 Annual Catalog going live on June 1st!  I’ve used these items and added LOTS of texture!

Hop Best 2

Most of the papers on today’s card are brand new ~ whee!  The base of the card is Whisper White card stock.  Then layered on the white are pieces of the new Dapper Denim card stock, Sweet Sugarplum card stock, and the fabulous new Pop of Pink Designer Series Paper.  All these layers have rough edges.  You can do this easily with your fingernail.  You can even tear the paper a bit for added texture.

Hop2 cu

Do you see the sparkly new designer washi tape?  It’s dotted with … copper!  I love it!  I used it to trim the smaller Sweet Sugarplum layer.   Other texture is added with our fabulous Timeless Textures stamp set and some Crumb Cake ink.

You Make My Heart Smile!

Timeless cu angledIsn’t this a sweet sentiment?  It’s from the stamp set called Timeless Love.  My friend and downline, Beeba Kapoor, created this card today at my card class and I just had to show it to you!

Timeless 2

Beeba is very creative and she has taken a arched flower spray stamp from the set and created a beautiful wreath.  She embossed it with white embossing powder and colored it in with a Blender Pen.  Some pretty flourishes from the Timeless Textures set have been stamped in the corners of the card.

Please leave a comment here for Beeba, I know she’d love to hear from you!

Here are the Stampin’ Up! items that Beeba used to create her card:

Stamps:  Timeless Love and Timeless Textures
Ink:  Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe Classic Stampin’ Pads and  Versamark Ink
Paper:  Whisper White and Mint Macaron card stock
Tools:  White Embossing Powder and Heat Tool

Thankful Journals!

Notebooks bothHave you every made a list of what you are thankful for?  It’s a very good practice.  It helps you to look for the good things and keeps your mind from dwelling on the bad or discouraging things.  Little journals are perfect for recording thanks and moleskin has some very cute (I mean very cute! ) pastel notebooks that are great for this.  But, these darling notebook pastel covers are totally plain ~ just crying out for some decoration 🙂  What can I say?  I had to do it!

Pink 2

One of the journals is a light yellow and goes very well with the Birthday Blooms dsp.  The thanks is from the Greetings Thinlits, and some pretty Watermelon Wonder Dotted Lace Trim was attached to the bottom of the white panel.  The Mini Treat Bag Thinlits have a few really cute dies: the little bow at the top left and the strip of hearts.  I love it!

Purple 2

The purple notebook was fun to make.  The thanks was embossed with silver embossing powder and then attached to the card.  There are a few layers here.  The first one is Perfect Plum card stock embossed with the Hearts Embossing Folder.  The top layer is Whisper White card stock stamped with Wisteria Wonder using the Timeless Textures stamp set (love this set.)  The ribbon is Whisper White Seam Binding died with Wisteria Wonder ink.  I just used a sponge dauber with the ink and ran it over the ribbon.  I love the way it came out!

Purple 1

These little journals make nice gifts for friends ~ or for yourself!  I encourage you to write down what you are thankful for.  It’s really helps me.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think!  I love your comments!

Timeless Tags!

Tag 1

Tags are so much fun to make ~ I love tags!  Tie them on a package or a bag, or make them a part of a card.  So versatile!  I like to make tags with a vintage feel.  I plan to tie this on a bag for one of my customers 🙂
