Stampin' Up! Striped First Frost - prettypapercards - stampinup

Black and white stripes are classic. They give a fresh and modern look to everything ~ including cards! So how do you create a striped background?

Well, you might use a designer paper that has black and white stripes. But you also might create your own stripes 🙂 Start with a panel of Whisper White card stock 4″ x 5-1/4.” Cut 5 strips of Basic Black card stock to 4″ x 1/2.” Lay them across the white panel at 1/2″ intervals. To get the spacing close to exact (it’s hard to be totally exact!), you can use a few methods. One is to line up your Whisper White panel on our Stampin’ Up! Grid Paper and then line the black strips up accordingly on grid lines, at 1/2″ intervals.

The method I used was to cut another strip of card stock – I chose Daffodil Delight for contrast- at 1/2″ x 5.” This became a guide that I placed between each black strip to make sure the distance between them was 1/2.” It worked well for me. You might even have another way to line up the black strips. If you do, please let me know 🙂
