Hi there! Now you may be thinking…what? a blue flamingo? But I have some friends who are expecting their first baby and they found out it’s a boy, and this just seemed perfect for them! And I am tickled pink for them 🙂
This flamingo has really surprised me, I didn’t realize I would like it so much! For today’s card I heat embossed the flamingo with white embossing powder. Then I watercolored it with an Aqua Pen and two colors of ink, Soft Sky and Island Indigo. I added a little watercolored bit of Daffodil Delight ink for the beak. I mean, a beak has to be a different color, right?
The flamingo was fussy cut with my paper snips and then glued onto a 2″ x 4″ Whisper White card stock panel. The legs of the flamingo had already been stamped on the panel (I have to say it looked a bit funny without the body!).
This stamp set is really fun and, it’s photopolymer which means that you can see through the stamps and they are easier to line up!
Here’s a photo of the finished card on my crafting desk. It’s always messy when I finish a card 🙂 Now, I’m the type of person that when I finish a card I just walk away and come back later to clean up. I know that might be shocking to some of you. But I think I just want to enjoy my creation for a while and not think of cleaning up. What about you? Do you clean up right away? Maybe you clean as you go? I’d love to know! Please leave me a comment HERE ~ don’t be too hard on me though!!
It’s almost July! And that means there’s going to be a new Prettypapercards by Mail! It’s going to be fun and I can’t wait to show it to you!
Thanks for stopping by today!
I work best in a mess! 🙂 I wish I was more clean when crafting but just not how I work…Love you cards Peggy!
Thanks Stesha! Glad I’m not the only one!!
I LOVE your card today! So cute! The colors are so soft and pretty.
Clean up? Let’s just say, never right away!!! 🙂
Have a great day.
Oh good, Kathy, now I feel so much better!!
Peggy – I had no intention of ordering this stamp set but guess what, I am ordering it today via my demonstrator! This card is beautiful and I love how you used the white embossing power. It sold the set for me! What designer paper did you use? It’s perfect for a baby boy card.
Karen
Great Karen! It is such a good stamp set! The paper is the Coffee Break dsp…a really versatile paper.
Love this card! Your blue flamingo is such a fun inspiration. Now, I must buy this set. Oh, wish you could see how messy my crafting area is…..stamping and card making always starts out with a big clean dining room table, and within minutes, there’s only a 12″x12″ work area left, if that. And it stays that way until we have company.
Oh Martha, I’m totally giggling because that’s exactly what happens to my desk!!!?
This card is absolutely divine… who would have thought to use the Flamingo in blue, yet it works!!!
I agree with Karen above. I had no intention of buying this set but your card is so beautiful that the set is now on my wish list. And I don’t clean up until my work area is about like Martha’s… 12×12 with stamps sets stacked on one side, DSP stacked on the other, ribbons rolls everywhere! I’d rather be creating than cleaning up. But you know, there is a point I reach when the clutter is too much to even think! Then I have to clean *sigh*. Where are the cleaning fairies when you need them?!
I leave everything out on my table just never know when I will need it again
I have to say your blue flamingo is beautiful. Love using this set for a baby card. In terms of cleaning up it depends on my mood. Sometimes I clean up immediately, other times I will walk away and come back later. Having a craft room helps with this.
It’s great that you have a craft room! I do too and that’s why I can walk away! 🙂
