Welcome to the Pals September 2017 Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month our theme is “My Favorite Holiday”. Sit back and enjoy the view while the Pals treat you with projects for the upcoming Autumn and Winter holidays.
Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
My favorite holiday is … Fall. I know, it’s not “really” a holiday, but for me it is! I LOVE Fall. Here in San Diego County only a native can find Fall. We have quite a long late summer, most of our Fall days are really late summer days. It can be 80 or 90 degrees all the way through October. So when we do have a true Fall day here (coolish weather with a few leaves floating around), it’s a really big deal! It can be 69 degrees and we will all start up our fireplaces!!! It’s a holiday!
So today I made for you a true Fall card! I used a fun technique with Embossing Paste and have a little photo tutorial for you. The purple leaves on this card were made with Embossing Paste and then watercolored lightly with Fresh Fig ink using an Aqua Painter. Here’s how it’s done:
The stencil for the paste was created using a leaf die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits, but you can use any die or punch to create a stencil! It’s a fun technique!
Here’s a close up of a finished leaf. It almost looks sparkly or sugary, doesn’t it? After I made the leaves on the card, I splattered the card with the same Fresh Fig ink and Aqua Painter (tap against a bone folder). The sunflowers were fussy cut from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper. This paper is so beautiful, seriously. It’s one of my all-time favorites 🙂
The sentiment used is from the Merry Cafe stamp set, and it expresses just how I feel! I also added a bit of Metallic Thread for bling! We have to have bling, right???
Thank you so much for hopping with the Stampin’ Pretty Pals today. Please take a minute to mark your calendar for our next hop on October 11, 2017, for “Wicked Folds”. Now hop along using the Blog Hop Line-up below. The next stop is my friend Su Mohr at Aromas and Art. Don’t forget to leave me a comment. I’d love to hear what you have to say about my Favorite Holiday. Bye the way, what’s your favorite holiday?

Wonderful creation, Peggy! Thanks for the tutorial on your purple leaves. I must give that a try!
Glad you liked it Su! Let me know how your leaves turn out!
That’s a crazy cool technique and a beautiful card; TYFS!
Love the fall card with the embossing paste.
Absolutely stunning, Peggy! Such a creative way to make the leaves ~ they turned out beautifully. I know what you mean about fall. Even in Nor Cal we treasure it! This morning I woke up to 64 degrees and it’s THE first cool morning we’ve had. It feels like fall is on its way! Hooray!
GORGEOUS!! I usually mix my ink into the embossing paste before I apply it to the cardstock. I really like the mottled effect of adding it afterward. I agree with you that Fall is my favorite season. We can see ours a little better LOL and would love to know at what temperature does everyone start their fireplaces. We start ours when the inside temp is in the low 60’s. I have a feeling your tolerance isn’t that low! LOL Great card, Peggy!! Thanks for the inspiration.
Spectacular job!
Thank you Pam!
Beautiful card, Peggy. Thanks for always sharing.
Thank you Shiree! So glad you could stop by!

I will do just that. Thank you.
Good Patricia! I’ll be anxious to know how it turns out!
Beautiful Peggy! We both used Embossing Paste techniques this time around. I’ll have to try this one.
