Pals May Blog Hop: Textures or Techniques!

Welcome to our Pals Blog Hop, May 2018. This month we’ll be “Stepping Up with Textures or Techniques.” What’s that? Projects that are “stepped up” by using textures or fun techniques. Who knows, maybe both! Join in the fun while we inspire you to “step up” your creations.

You may be starting the hop here or you may be coming from a previous Pal’s blog. Either way, you’ve come to the right place. You’ll find the full line-up below to help you move or “hop” along from Pal to Pal.

Stampin' Up! Happiest of Days Card - Peggy Noe - stampinup

My card today shows you several ways you can create texture on your cards! Texture has to do with the surface of the card, specifically using several different surfaces with lots of dimension.

Stampin' Up! Oh Happy Day - Prettypapercards - stampinup

The first way to create texture is with layering. This card has lots of layers of paper, and Stampin’ Dimensionals add wonderful depth to the layers.

Pretty Pointer: Lifting up elements of your card on Stampin’ Dimensionals creates texture as it allows your card to have different levels.

Stampin' Up! Happiest of Days Flowers - Peggy Noe - stampinup
Here
I’ve raised up the flowers by using not only one layer of Stampin’ Dimensionals, but two layers. Below is a side view of the card. Under the flowers you can see two Stampin’ Dimensionals stacked on top of each other to create extra height (a double layer!).

Stampin' Up! Stampin' Dimensionals - Peggy Noe - stampinup

To layer Stampin’ Dimensionals, peel the paper off of the top of one Dimensional, then set another one on top of it, lining up the sides. It’s just like two layers of a cake!

Stampin' Up! Stampin' Dimensionals 2 - Peggy Noe - stampinup

A second way to add texture is to use an embossing folder. On this card, a sheet of the beautiful Peekaboo Peach card stock (retiring on May 31st) has been embossed with the Basket Weave Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. As you can see, this embossed sheet is lifted up with a single layer of Stampin’ Dimensionals. Lots of texture!!

Stampin' Up! Happiest of Days - Prettypapercards - stampinup

A third way to add texture is to use gems, sequins or metallic items on your card. Here I’ve added some sweet little metallic roses to the center of the stamped roses!

Now it’s time to see how the rest of the Pals are Stepping Up with Textures or Techniques. Please use the Blog Hop Line-Up below to move from blog to blog. Don’t forget to show us some love by commenting on our creations.

Mark your calendars for June 13, 2018 where we feature projects for Babies, Birthdays and Brides. You’ll probably even see products from Stampin’ Up!s new 2018-2019 Annual Catalog. Don’t miss it!

Autism Awareness Blog Hop!

In celebration of World Autism Awareness Day, a group of crafters have joined together in a Blog Hop to help spread awareness. We have all created a handmade card with the focus on supporting those with or in support of caregivers of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Stampin' Up! Autism Lovely Words Thinlits - Prettypapercards - stampinup

Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life. Autism affects an estimated 1 in 88 births (Centers for Disease Control Prevention, 2014). Roughly translated, this means as many as 1.5 million Americans today are believed to have some form of autism. And this number is on the rise. Based on statistics from the U.S. Department of Education and other governmental agencies, autism is growing at a startling rate of 10-17 percent per year. At this rate, the ASA estimates that the prevalence of autism could reach 4 million Americans in the next decade.

Stampin' Up! Autism Lovely Words Thinlits - Peggy Noe - stampinup

My card today is really meant for caregivers, parents and families of those with autism. My heart just goes out to them and I know they need love and support to keep going. So I created this card which expresses my feelings for them. I know that some autism patients may not like hugs or physical touch, so it seems that their caregivers even more would need that hug. In fact, I have a friend who is a mother of an autistic child and she needs lots of hugs. I’m going to send this card to her!

Stampin' Up! Lovely Words - Prettypapercards - stampinup
The bold sentiment was cut with the Lovely Words Thinlits Dies. It’s highlighted by two circles punched with the Starburst Punch, one is Whisper White card stock and one is Vellum (you can barely see the Vellum layered over the white). Bright designer series paper forms the background of the card, and Night of Navy Corduroy Ribbon adds a nice accent.

Stampin' Up! Lovely Words - Peggy Noe - stampinup
Do you know someone with autism? Do you know a caregiver? Please find a way to support them today. In fact, you may wish to contribute to the Autism Society. If so, there is a donate button below to assist you 🙂 And, I thank you in advance!Maybe you are a caregiver for an autism patient. Then this card today is for you! I send big hugs to you today and thank you for your love and care and sacrifice.

Sparkle & Shine Pals Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Pals December 2017 Blog Hop featuring “All that Sparkles and Shines”. Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

Stampin' Up! Year of Cheer - Peggy Noe - stampinup

Ooh, sparkle and shine, what a perfect December blog hop!! This is THE time for sparkle and shine, right?  So, for my project today I created a card like a gift, all wrapped up with lots of bling!

Stampin' Up! Christmas Card - Peggy Noe - stampinup

For the background I used the gold and white plaid sheet from the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper. It is super sparkly! Then I tied it up like a gift with ribbons and bling!

Stampin' Up! Christmas Card Prettypapercards - Peggy Noe - stampinup

For the “bling” I used Silver Mini Tinsel Trim, Gold Mini Sequin Trim, and Mini Ornaments! Everything is tied up with Real Red Ribbon and “sealed” with a sweet little Boxwood Wreath!

Stampin' Up! Prettypapercards Pals Blog Hop - Peggy Noe - stampinup

Now this isn’t the type of card you would send in the mail. It’s a card that you would hand deliver, maybe even on top of a large gift! You could even wrap the gift in the same paper!!

After I finished my card it just seemed to call out to be placed on my Christmas tree as an ornament! So I tucked it in the branches, just above a white lace angel.

Stampin' Up! 1 Lovely Words Friend Card - Paggy Noe - stampinup

My card today is a fun tri-fold card disguised as a regular card!

Stampin' Up! 2 Lovely Words - Peggy Noe - stampinup

Who would know that this card unfolds with two more layers?

Stampin' Up! 3 Lovely Words Friend Card - Peggy Noe - stampinup

The card opens to reveal an inside full of pretty pumpkins from the beautiful Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper.

Stampin' Up! 4 Painted Harvest Lovely Words - Peggy Noe - stampinup

This pumpkin panel lifts up to reveal the third section of the card.

Stampin' Up! 5 Lovely Words Painted Harvest - Peggy Noe - stampinup

For the inside, I used the die-cut circle from the front of the card and affixed a banner with a nice sentiment from the Basket of Wishes stamp set. This is a fun fold and it’s a little surprise for the one who opens it!

Stampin' Up! 6 Lovely Words Painted Harvest - Peggy Noe - stampinup

I have a template for you so that you can make this same card. It’s super easy! Start with an 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock. The “X” below shows you the section you cut out. The dotted lines represent the places you will fold. Each section is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2.” Easy, right?

My Favorite Holiday ~ Pals Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Pals September 2017 Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month our theme is “My Favorite Holiday”.  Sit back and enjoy the view while the Pals treat you with projects for the upcoming Autumn and Winter holidays.

Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.

Stampin' Up! Seasonal Layers Thinlits Hello Fall Card - Peggy Noe - stampin up

My favorite holiday is … Fall. I know, it’s not “really” a holiday, but for me it is! I LOVE Fall. Here in San Diego County only a native can find Fall. We have quite a long late summer, most of our Fall days are really late summer days. It can be 80 or 90 degrees all the way through October. So when we do have a true Fall day here (coolish weather with a few leaves floating around), it’s a really big deal! It can be 69 degrees and we will all start up our fireplaces!!! It’s a holiday!

So today I made for you a true Fall card! I used a fun technique with Embossing Paste and have a little photo tutorial for you. The purple leaves on this card were made with Embossing Paste and then watercolored lightly with Fresh Fig ink using an Aqua Painter. Here’s how it’s done:

Stampin' Up! Embossing Paste Tutorial - Peggy Noe - stampinup

The stencil for the paste was created using a leaf die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits, but you can use any die or punch to create a stencil! It’s a fun technique!

Stampin' Up! Embossing Paste Fall Card - Peggy Noe - stampin up

Here’s a close up of a finished leaf. It almost looks sparkly or sugary, doesn’t it? After I made the leaves on the card, I splattered the card with the same Fresh Fig ink and Aqua Painter (tap against a bone folder). The sunflowers were fussy cut from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper. This paper is so beautiful, seriously. It’s one of my all-time favorites 🙂

Stampin' Up! Painted Harvest Hello Fall - Peggy Noe - stampinup

The sentiment used is from the Merry Cafe stamp set, and it expresses just how I feel! I also added a bit of Metallic Thread for bling! We have to have bling, right???
