Welcome to the August Stampin’ Pretty Pals’ Blog Hop!
This month the theme is Summer Vacation. We hope to inspire you with our creations today! You will find the lineup at the end of my post to help you “hop” along from Pal to Pal.
So, you might think this is an unusual vacation card, but I’ll tell you the story 🙂 At the end of April I went on a vacation to Mexico. But was that really “the summer”? I don’t think so. When thinking about “my summer vacation” – a summer vacation I might like to take now – I imagine a lovely quiet place by a lake, with flowers and butterflies, and I’m there by the lake reading and relaxing. Aaaah… So that’s the scene I created on my card today, and I love it! I’m even relaxed just thinking about it!!
The beautiful blue lake scene is a sheet of the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper. By the time I finished the card I saw that I’d covered up some of the lovely scene, but I think you can get the idea. The card base is Boho Blue cardstock cut at 6-1/2″ x 5-1/2,” and scored on the longer side at 4-1/4.” This creates a fun-fold card with a front flap. The designer series paper sheet was cut so that the lake shore is on the top flap and the lake itself is at the bottom.
The lower edge of the flap has a Basic Beige cardstock label cut with the Iconic Imagery Dies, and a white open floral label (from the Unbounded Beauty Dies) on top of it. On the left side of the label is a 2-3/8″ circle cut from some beautiful Graceful Greenery Vellum, and it’s topped with a 2″ circle that was embossed with the Dotted Circles Embossing Folder.
On the right side is a pretty butterfly from the Spotlight on Nature Stamp Set. The butterfly was embossed in gold and lightly watercolored with Lemon Lime Twist and Lemon Lolly inks.
Are you ready to relax by the lake? I hope so!
There’s more inspiration to show you, so use the lineup below to visit the rest of the Design Team. Please mark your calendars for our blog hop next month, when our theme will be All Creatures Great and Small.
Until then, have fun in your craft space.
