For Memorial Day weekend I wanted to make a patriotic card and one that reflects the correct sentiment for the holiday. Memorial Day is a day for honoring those who died in military service to our country. Although we may think of it as a fun 3-day holiday, it really has an important meaning, and I want to reflect that.
I used the patriotic colors of red, white and blue and added in a bit of yellow (Daffodil Delight). This card was inspired by the Global Design Project Challenge for this week that has three strips with a tie around them.
Here’s the video showing step-by-step instructions for making this card:
The strips of Night of Navy and Basic White are from a sheet of the gorgeous Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper. The strips are adhered to a Real Red rectangle, Then Linen Thread was wrapped around the rectangle. After this piece was adhered to the card base, the flowers and leaves from the stamp set were added.
The sentiment is from a set that is retired, Perennial Postage. I don’t usually use retired items, but the sentiment “big hugs” just seemed so appropriate for a Memorial Day card.
