Today’s card is a layering delight. Layer after layer of softly blended papers and colors creates one of my favorite styles. I’m not sure what you call it…shabby chic? vintage? I don’t know, but I love all the pretty layers and I’ll try to describe them all for you! π

When I start creating a card like this, I decide on the colors I want to use and then pull all the papers and embellishments that have those colors. Then I begin to layer! This card began with a Whisper White card base, then I added a Highland Heather piece embossed with the Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This folder is carrying into our new catalog which means it will be available again on June 4th. (It is a carryover from Sale-a-Bration.)

Working upward, the next layers are a Highland Heather watercolored piece, a layer of the amazingly gorgeous vellum from the Floral Romance Specialty Designer Series Paper (retiring-yikes!), and a piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock also embossed with the Country Floral folder. On top of that is a piece of Vellum punched with the Starburst Punch, then some Vellum and Granny Apple Green leaves punched with the Leaf Punch and some Whisper White leaves die cut with a die from the Bouquet Bunch Framelits. A little bit of Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon is also tucked in there π

To top it all off is a fabulous sentiment from the Rooted in Nature stamp set stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink on an oval die from the Stitched Shapes dies. The oval was sponged with a bit of Petal Pink ink and splattered with some Gorgeous Grape ink and distressed all around. A Blackberry Bliss Twine bow is set off to the left, and a sweet little Highland Heather butterfly finishes it off. Whew!Β
This is a card for what we would call an “avid” crafter, but you could certainly make a simple card with any one or two of the layers here. Give it a try! Layer a few pretty colors of card stock and angle them, add a sentiment piece and a bit of ribbon and you’ll have a beautiful creation!
Thanks for stopping by today! Happy Stamping!

Peggy, I love this gorgeous card with all the luscious layering. Thanks for detailing each layer and also your tip on how this is for the avid crafter, but how a pretty card could be made using some of the layers.
Glad you enjoyed the tips, Hilda! I loved every layer of this card and wished each could show more!
Beautiful! ?
Thank you my friend!

Once again a very beautiful card!
Aaw, thanks, Vicki!

I love your abbreviations Marlene!!
Absolutely beautiful !!!
I love your card. Itβs so beautiful and soft. I do have a question though. When you make a card like this what sizes are your layers. I am relatively new to card making and so far my cards have been very one dimensional.
Again, itβs a beautiful card. Thanks for sharing with us.
Gail, I’m not a math whiz or anything, I’ll just say that up front. But I know that the size of the front of the cards I make is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2.” So I usually cut my layers in increments of 1/4″ off from that size. My first layer is usually 4″ x 5-1/4,” my second layer would be 3-3/4″ x 5,” and so on. If I want to increase the distance between layers I may go 1/2″ off from the size of the previous layer. That seems to work for me π
Hope this helps!
