What is a cloche? How do you pronounce it? Why am I talking about it?
Well, I’m talking about a cloche because Stampin’ Up! is releasing 2 new stamp sets on August 3rd and both of them have cloche images in them! So I set out to find out more. First, you pronounce it “KL-O-SH” with a long O. It means “bell” in French. Ok, so we’ve got a bell What does it mean? It has several meanings:
- A glass bell-shaped dome that covers food to keep it moist;
- A glass or plastic dome that covers plants, specifically baby plants, to keep them moist and help them grow;
- A centuries-old ceramic baking dish used over a fire;
- A current type of baking dish used frequently to bake and store sourdough bread; and,
- A bell-shaped women’s hat popular in the early 1900’s.
And there you go! Now you know about the cloche and you’re ready to make cloche cards!!!
The Sweets & Treats Stamp Set is one of my favorites in the new Holiday Mini Catalog. It has all kinds of fun baked goods stamps and a cloche to put them in! For this card, I stamped the stand, the cloche, and I put a darling birthday cupcake inside the cloche! Here’s a replay of my Facebook Live that shows you how to make this card!
The stamps in this set couldn’t be cuter. Look at the darling heart on top of the cloche. I stamped it, colored it with Stampin’ Blends, and fussy cut it. It’s such a great finish for the cloche!
On top of the cupcake I added a Brushed Metallic Adhesive-Backed Dot. This is a new embellishment in the Mini Catalog and we are going to use these dot alot for the upcoming fall and winter holidays!

Hi Peggy, love this design! I have two cloche’s. They have hooks inside and my father-in-law’s pocket watches hang from the hooks. They have such sentimental value and I have had them for years.
