Paper Pumpkin by Stampin’ Up! is a crafting subscription kit that delivers creativity to your door every month. The November kit is darling! It includes everything you need to make 24 fabulous over-sized tags in 4 designs featuring cardinals, deer, and snowflakes, like the ones above…and below!
It’s also fun to take the supplies you receive in the kit and create alternatives ~ just to change things up a bit! And that’s what I’ve done with this kit! I’ve created two cards – instead of tags 🙂
The first alternative is made with a pool party card base. Two of the trees are glued to the front of the card base and the sentiment is stamped on one of the rectangular white pieces and glued in place. The sequins from the kit were adhered randomly to a piece of 4″ x 5-1/4″ vellum. Dots of glue were then placed on the underside of the vellum just underneath the sequins and the area where the reindeer will be placed, and then the vellum was attached to the card base as shown. The silver reindeer was attached to the vellum with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The Poppy Parade tag that comes in the kit (the snowflake tag) has a tiny red dot that pops out for the ribbon. I used that tiny dot and glued it on the reindeer’s nose 🙂
For the second alternative, I cut a card base from Poppy Parade card stock and stamped the front with the holly leaf stamp in the kit. I used Poppy Parade ink so that the stamping really just adds texture to the card base. One of the trees from the kit was glued on to one of the watercolor-look blue panels. Some green ribbon from the kit was tied in a bow around the lower portion of the panel which was then adhered in the center of the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped as shown and attached also with Dimensionals. Three silver and white snowflakes from the set were glued around the panel as shown, and the some of the self-adhesive silver sequins were added.

Paper Pumpkin by Stampin’ Up! is a crafting subscription kit that delivers creativity to your door every month. The October kit is stunning! It includes everything you need to make a 10 beautiful holiday cards like the one above.
I love the birch trees and the way they are lifted up and out from the background scene on Stampin’ Dimensionals! These cards are giving me a great start on my holiday crafting!
It’s also fun to take the supplies you receive in the kit and create alternative cards ~ just to change things up a bit! And that’s what I’ve done with this kit.
The first alternative is made with an additional piece of Whisper White card stock cut at 4″ x 5-1/4.” Using the largest Layering Circle Die (not scalloped), cut a circle in the center of the piece. Stamp the dots/snowflakes on the upper portion of the piece in Night of Navy ink. Adhere to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals; stamp the sentiment on the blue flagged end piece and adhere to the white piece with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
This second alternative is simple and striking. Decorate the tree with small branches from the birch trees. Cut the tiny branches off the birch trees and carefully adhere them between the pine branches of the trees with Multipurpose Glue. Allow extra glue to remain on the sides of the branches.
Working quickly, as soon as you finish attaching the branches cover the trees with some gold glitter (this is from my personal stash). Lightly pat the glitter down and then shake it off the piece. It will adhere on that extra glue that was a bit outside the branches, and leave a pretty shimmer, as if the branches are glowing in the moonlight!

We knew this month’s Paper Pumpkin would be special because Stampin’ Up!’s Sara Douglass designed it, AND, it has a FREE gift inside. So, I was excited to see it in my mailbox today 🙂
I opened that box and started playing right away! All of these cards I’m showing you today were designed by me and are alternatives (stepped up versions) of the cards shown in the kit. For the one above, I watercolored the black and white striped paper to give it a new look. I used one of the pink sparkly embellishments popped up on a dimensional above a cluster of the leaf stickers.
What is the free gift? Some mini watercolor pencils! Whee! You will love them! For this card I watercolored the one panel and stamped some black dots on the dried panel. The stamps shown here all come in the kit!
Here’s the video about the kit from Sara:
